receving the dreaded "operation could not be complete - unspecified error" message box .

Weird. I can't repro this on Beta2 at all.  You can make this happen consistently and you've already tried reinstalling?

It may be best to try to get you to a new CTP and see if the issue persists...

Could you give more details on what you're doing that is causing this error.

I was about to provide more details about the gpfs but was sidetracked re-installing the 2005 beta after which I found that 64 bit configurations were no longer an option in the IDE. A repair didn't help . All the install options for 64bit support are checked and the add/remove shows all installed . What is the IDE needing to allow 64 bit? What can I check to see if it's really on or not on?

thanks,

The gpf's usually occur when right clicking on a project within the solution explorer window . I am not able to ascertain any specific sequence for which I can cause the gpf at will . I do get a jit debugger window pop-up but normally cancel the debugging session so as to not cause devenv to exit completely .
What else would be helpful?

I see that another user has the same problem and is reporting it in the
 Microsoft Technical Forums » Visual C++ » Visual C++ General » VC2005 Beta2 Crashes
I'm going to cross reference my issue to that one as I have done here . Maybe someont at MS can help
