Identity Training Kit

I install Geneva Framework SDK + SDK Net Services past all requisites.

System 1:
Windows 7 + IIS7 + Vs2008 SP1 & VS2010 Professional Beta1
System 2:
Windows Vista SP2 + VS2008 SP1 + IIS7

When I attempt to do LABS %TrainingKitFolder%\Labs\WebSitesAndIdentity\Ex1-ClaimEnableASPNET\Begin , all well sinze I need the Solution Menu Option Modify STS reference...

"Adding Local STS to the Solution"

"Our website has no authentication code at all. As mentioned in the overview, we will outsource authentication to an STS we trust. In production we will have such an STS: but for now, there are none available. Fortunately, Geneva Framework allows us to easily create local STSes that can be used for development purposes.

1. On the Solution Explorer, right-click the https://localhost/ClaimsEnableWebSiteEx01 project and select Modify STS reference."

The option not view, not appears o menu, and not in tool menu options

Sorry my language, I'm tired

I had the same problem on Win7 but once I removed Geneva Beta 1 and installed Geneva Beta 2, the STS Menu option appeared.

I don't install Geneva Server, I install Geneva Framework SDK Beta2, the file is "Geneva FrameworkSDK.x86.msi" (size=10,3 MB).

Is necessary isntall Geneva Server Beta2? In requirements not appears.

Thanks, but I am in same situation

Hi Jcastellsg,
Geneva Server is not a requirement for the Identity Training Kit: Geneva Framework Beta 2 should be enough. Note that the "Modify STS Reference" menu item is added by Geneva Framework and not by the kit, if you don;t have it something went wrong with the framework installation (as usual, the suggestion is reinstalling). Also, make sure that you are installing the SDK and not just the runtime.
Also note: Beta2 is designed to work on VS2008, and the current version of the identity training kit has been tested on VS2008 only: if you use VS2010 there's no guarantee that it will work as expected.

Thanks Vitorio, but I installed on:

One Computer With:

WIndows 7 + IIS7 + Vs2008 And VS2010 + Geneva Framework SDK Beta2 + Identity Training Kit

And Also on

other computer with:

Windows Vista SP1 + IIS7 + VS2008 + Geneva Farmework SDK Beta2 + Identity Training Kit

On all in Visual Studio -> Tools --> Add-in Manager I view one AddIn "Microsoft.IdentityModel.Tools.Vs.VsAddin" but in Menu from solution no view "Modify STS Reference"

The file that I have download is ""Geneva FrameworkSDK.x86.msi" (size=10,3 MB).

I'm very interest in this framework and Geneva.

I am designing the architecture of a health system 5-year. Based on .NET and Microsoft Server 2008, IIS7, WCF, WWF, Team Foundation Server technologies ISA Proxy 2006, Terminal Server, Terminal Server Gateway, Exchange 2007, and I need a Identity Manager

Thanks

jcastellsg

The entries in the menu should be added by the geneva framework SDK installation. If they are not there I see 2 main possibilites, one is that the installation didn't succeed (most common) and the other is that the project you are working on is not a website (but it should appear, albeit grayed out, in the tool menu).
Did you try to uninstall & reinstall the geneva framework SDK on the VIsta SP1/VS2008 PC?

Vittorio Bertocci - MSFT
I install a reinstall many times.

Today I install

Windows Server 2008 + IIS7 + Vs2008 + Geneva Framework SDK Beta 2 ( if this is in Geneva FrameworkSDK.x86.msi ) + Identity Training kit.

And the same, VSAddin in Tools -> Add-In Manager but not rigth project "Web" menu. I want do the LABS in Trainit Kit, "ClaimsEnableWebSiteEx01" and can't do.

Oh, the project templates isn't too.

Thanks
jcastellsg

Until you don't get the SDK samples to work and those menu items to show up, don't bother installing the training kit.
Make sure that the geneva installation is actually the beta2 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=118c3588-9070-426a-b655-6cec0a92c10b&hash=afVUjeueUmC6flNp8vH1%2ftPrGGI9HY%2beBWywEKrrjatkBwY0Wa04OYb3AZPDFsAAUdtnhuQ0kuZzjioCt%2bGKcA%3d%3d).
Verify that your visual studio has visual web developer enabled and that you are able to create projects on the local IIS.
If those two don't work, the setup team will have to chime in.

thanks vittorio but I stay in the same situation.

See this screencast

http://www.screencast.com/t/V2xOjLU8QqX

you will view thats all is ok but not view the option in my Visual Studio 2008 Professional (Licensed by Microsoft).

The same situation in Vista SP1, Windows 2008 and Windows 7.

IIS 7 in all.

The solution "FabrikamShipping1.0.Setup.exe" works well.

Not be that this passing, Culture of OS is Spanish.

jcastellsg
Thanks for the screencast. The info about the culture of the OS and VIsual Studio is probably relevant, and similar to other recent threads. I'll investigate and get back to you.

Hi Jcastellsg,
thank you for your patience.
We confirmed that the behavior you are observing is due to a bug in the Beta2 release of Windows Identity Foundation (Geneva Framework). As of today the workaround is using a version of Visual Studio 2008 with English UI.
The current plan of record is to support Windows Identity Foundation beyond English, hence you can expect that this will be fixed in a future release.

Thanks

Vittorio

Thanks you Vittorio.

Where I can obtain a Visual Studio 2008 with English UI.?

Or change mine Visual Studio?

Sorry, but i very interst on Identity.
jcastellsg
Well well well, with Visual Studio 2008 with English UI works fine.

Thanks
