.Net benchmark application without DB

Hello,
I'm setting up a new web farm and we are attempting to determine our best hardware/VMware and IIS7 config. Since there's a limitation on existing hardware we don't have anywhere to install sqlServer so I'd like to run something like the StockTrade application without a database so we can come up with the best option for webserver hardware. Are you aware of any applications already available, or is it possible in the StockTrade app to stub out the DB access to flat files on the web server?

You can install with the free SQLServer Server Express edition; however, stocktrader does rely on a SQL DB; and typically nodes in the farm would point to this same db.
